Application Checklist

Keep track of the application process for TNP by checking off completed items and keeping a printed copy of the following checklist. An application fee of $50 applies.

When submitting GRE scores or transcripts, please note that the institution code for Wayne State University is 1898. Applicants do not need to include a department code when sending such information.

Required Elements To Be Included With Application:

Transcript(s) of undergraduate and any graduate studies to one graduate school (official only), and two to the TNP office (official transcript is okay, but copy is acceptable to expedite consideration by committee). The applicant must have a baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

A one-page statement of purpose must be included. This can be submitted online but should also be sent to the TNP office to expedite review.

Three letters of recommendation from persons able to judge the applicant’s likelihood of success in the program. Names of letter-writers should be entered online. The actual letters should be sent to the TNP office, but the applicant can instruct the recommender to submit using the online system.

GRE scores. Applicant should send official copy, but also self-report scores using the online system.

TOEFL scores (international applicants only). Applicants should send official copy, but also self-report scores using the online system.

Interview with a TNP graduate officer or designated representative from the steering committee.

Desirable Elements:

Interview with potential graduate faculty mentor(s).

GRE subject test scores.
